What is High blood pressure?
High blood pressure or hypertension is a condition when your blood pressure, the force of your blood pushing against the walls of your blood vessels, is consistently too high.
The tissues and organs in your body need the oxygenated blood that your circulatory system carries throughout the body. It creates a pressure when our heart beats that pushes blood through a network of tube-shaped blood vessels, which include arteries, veins, and capillaries. This blood pressure is the result of two forces: The first one (systolic pressure) occurs as blood pumps out of the heart and into the arteries that are part of the circulatory system and the second one (diastolic pressure) is created as the heart rests between heartbeats. These two forces are represented by numbers in a blood pressure reading.
The blood pressure readings of an individual are based on these readings and refer to the chart for the hypertension conditions.

Being overweight or obese can cause high blood pressure in varied ways. The increased weight causes more pressure to move the blood around the body. When the weight gain is in the abdominal area there is a higher risk for high blood pressure because this type of fat is more likely to cause the arteries to become thick and rigid. it is harder to push the blood through when the blood vessels become rigid. When it gets hard to move blood around the body adrenalin increases. This will increase salt retention and further increase blood pressure.
Obesity is also associated with sleep apnea and diabetes, which both carry an increased risk of high blood pressure.
- SMOKING AND DRINKING:
Smoking habit fastens the development of high blood pressure it raises the systolic blood pressure levels by as much as 4 millimeters of mercury (mm Hg). This is because of the nicotine which contained in the tobacco activates the nervous system to release chemicals that can constrict blood vessels and contribute to high blood pressure. It causes damage to blood vessels which leads to high blood pressure and increases the chances of heart strokes.

It is highly recommended to sleep at least 7 to 8 hours daily especially you have high blood pressure.
